PROGRAM COORDINATOR - WESTSIDE PLAY

WESTSIDE PLAY is a program of NW Goldberg Cares, Motor City Grounds Crew, 360 Detroit, Inc. and Woodbridge Neighborhood Development that brings an opportunity for both open and structured sports/athletics-based play to the children residents from NW Goldberg, Woodbridge, Virginia Park and the directly surrounding neighborhoods.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of administrative needs for WESTSIDE PLAY program including registration, website, and parent communication

  • On-site facilitation and management of youth sports events for WESTSIDE PLAY, 

  • Management of Youth Sports Coordinators

  • Assistance with promotion and marketing of WESTSIDE PLAY via various channels including: social media, email marketing, distribution of physical flyers, promotion at community events, etc.

  • Support recruitment of youth to attend WESTSIDE PLAY events

  • Communicating with supervisor on challenges and areas for improvements

  • Maintaining a culture with NW Goldberg Cares mission and goals

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • High school degree or equivalent; some college/bachelor's degree preferred

  • Experience as participant or coach in youth athletics programs preferred

  • Mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of 50 children in a sports-focused setting

  • Strong communication skills with both youth and parents

  • Possess a strong worth ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have the appropriate expectations of their abilities

  • Must possess reliable transportation to get to various program sites on the west side of Detroit

  • CPR/First Aid certification required upon start of program

FURTHER DETAILS:

The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Programming.  

This is a stipend position.
