LEAD INSTRUCTOR - JOB DESCRIPTION
READING IN THE HOLLAND MAZE
READING IN THE HOLLAND MAZE (RHM) is a program of NW Goldberg Cares that takes place in the HOLLAND MAZE LITERACY PARK.
RHM aims to create access to literacy and music for Detroit pre-K through 5th grade children.
The innovative program builds social cohesion and offers a safe space for children and families to learn and create positive memories through reading, music and interactive instruction.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create hybrid virtual and in-person reading and musical programming curriculum for 15 sessions held May-September
Execute 15 - 30 to 45 minute RHM sessions held May-September
Create a feedback and data collection survey to collect data that will be used in grant reporting
In the event of any and all in-person learning, instructor is responsible for sanitizing material before and after session(s)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Be at least 18 years of age
High school degree or equivalent; some college/bachelor's degree preferred
Have at least two years of experience working with children and/or a certificate in early childhood education or currently working towards a completion of one
Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of 5-15 children in an outdoor setting
Possess a strong worth ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have the appropriate expectations of their abilities
CPR/First Aid certification is not required, but strongly preferred
FURTHER DETAILS:
The Lead Instructor will report directly to the Director of Programming.
This is a stipend position.
