$75,000 SECURED FOR SUSTAINING DETROIT’S LEGACY PROGRAM PILOT

Support from various funders to support three NW Goldberg legacy businesses

Detroit, MI – After a year of COVID-19 shutdown and an unclear path forward, three NW Goldberg legacy businesses receive support thanks to NW Goldberg Cares’ newly launched program - SUSTAINING DETROIT’S LEGACY: A Grant Program for Small Businesses.

“Late last year in the ongoing wake of COVID-19 pandemic, we recognized it  was imperative that we do more for our small businesses in the community,” said NW Goldberg Cares’ Founder and Executive Director Daniel A. Washington. “We’re happy to work with local technical assistance expert Proxie to provide one-on-one coaching for each business in this pilot.”

Brazelton’s Floral, Andy’s Pharmacy and White’s Construction each are receiving the following:

  • $7,500 cash grant

  • $15,000 worth of technical assistance support including:

    • One-on-one bi-weekly coaching

    • Entrepreneur training

    • Three roundtable workshops

    • Customized Accounting support

    • Marketing

    • Workforce development

    • Social media management

    • Website development

The pilot is funded in support from Ford Foundation, NEI and ProsperUS.

“In order to ensure that our legacy brick-and-mortar businesses survive and thrive in this post-COVID-19 small business economy, it is necessary that they receive individual and customized support to drive their strategic plans forward,” said Autumn Kyles, founder of Proxie.

The six-month program will conclude at the end of this year and be evaluated with hopes of continued funding and expansion to impact more NW Goldberg businesses.
