2025 YOUTH SPORTS COUNSELOR

PLAY NW GOLDBERG is an active and healthy lifestyle summer program of NW Goldberg Cares that brings an opportunity for both open and structured sports/athletics-based play to the children residents from NW Goldberg and the directly surrounding neighborhoods.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • On-site participation and supervision of youth participants

  • Cleaning and disinfection of sports equipment

  • Set-up and breakdown of sports equipment

  • Assist in distribution of lunch and/or snacks

  • Assess condition of sports equipment to determine if its safe to use or needs to be replaced/maintained

  • Communication with supervisor(s) on challenges and areas for improvement

  • Maintaining and promoting of PLAY NW GOLDBERG mission and goals

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • High school degree or equivalent; some college/bachelor's degree preferred

  • Experience as participant or coach in youth athletics programs

  • Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of 15-30 children in an outdoor, sports-focused setting

  • Possess a strong worth ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences

  • Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have the appropriate expectations of their abilities

  • CPR/First Aid certification is not required, but strongly preferred

FURTHER DETAILS:

The Youth Sports Counselor will report directly to the PLAY NW GOLDBERG Summer Program Coordinator.

COMPENSATION:
